About the Library

The Library was founded in 1928, when it was located on the second floor of the Pawling Firehouse. Today, Pawling Free Library occupies two buildings: its main building was renovated in 2002; most recently, the Library acquired the "Yellow House" next door, and currently uses this building for library programs and meetings.

Donations and Volunteer Opportunities:
Thank you for thinking about the library. Volunteers are needed in many capacities and efforts are just begining to rebuild the library's spirited corps of volunteers. Please contact any member of the board of trustees or the Library Director to volunteer your time or services. Thank you!

Book Sale Donations
The Pawling Libary Book Sale has grown to become a huge annual event. We are happy to accept donations of books and other materials for the book sale all year round. Please bring your donations to the "Yellow House" annex next door to the library.

Please only bring books or other materials (CDs, tapes, movies, records) that are in saleable condition. Library resources actually get diverted to dispose of things that can't be sold so if an item is too broken or dirty to sell please don't drop it off. Also, so sorry, but please, no more encyclopedias. We still have several, thanks. They take a huge amount of storage space and effort but, unfortunately, they don't sell.

Book Sale Volunteers
The Pawling Library Foundation is in the process of recruiting volunteers to work during our book sale. If you have time you can donate, please sign up to help at the library or email us at booksale@pawlinglibraryfoundation.org. We appreciate any time you might be able to give.
